What is "Flaring" or "Mushrooming", and when would I do it ? |

| Flaring the end of the fiber will give it a wider viewing angle. This technique is popular when installing a Star Ceiling. Flaring random fibers can add a bit of variety, helping to create the illusion that some of the 'stars' are closer than others. | |
| This is how you can easily Flare or Mushroom the end of the fiber optic filament. | |

| By holding it close to the tip of a HOT soldering iron. Careful NOT to touch the fiber to the end. | |

| Flaring fiber optic fibers can also be done with a candle as shown in the photos. Of course, you'll want to use caution ANY time you work with an open flame! | |
