How To
add Fiber Optics to a Hard Hat !
| |
I wanted something to attract a attention when I went to
Trades Shows. So I decided on a hard hat. Next I wanted to add a
Barcode sticker to it. Then I thought: "Wouldn't be a great attention getter
if I could add a Barcode Laser Scanner effect to the barcode?" So thanks to
my great friend at The Fiber Optic store I have my hard hat ready to wear in no
time.

I used a small pin drill vise to make 19 holes in the font
of the hard hat after the barcode sticker was on it.
| |
Next I used heat shrink tubing to hold the fiber
together.
Also I used heat shrink tubing to hold the fibers to the
Blinking LED.
| |
Then I used duck tape to hold it up in the hat. Glue
or nothing else would hold because the poly propylene the hat is made of is so
slippery and nothing stick to it. Two tiny hearing aid type batteries power
the LED light.
The 1000M illuminator would also work..
Finished effect shows a laser appearing beam scanning the barcode. |
